THE
CHISELLERS' SECTION
BACK

UNIT N. 8
--------------------------------------
A particular
attention, with the aim of conservation and recovery, is
dedicated to the section of chisellers who worked in the
Iblean territory from the terrible earthquake of 1693 till the
present times, and rebuilt the cities with precious sculptures.
Thanks to their works many cities in the Iblean territory are
now added in the World Heritage List of UNESCO.

The main
intention of this museum section is the creation of an
interdisciplinary dialogue and a new consideration of the
precious architectonical heritage. Not only the visitors can
appreciate the aesthetical beauty of the works, but also can
valorize the old techniques of making sculptures with a
detailed documentation and many examples (objects and tools),
witnesses of the ability and the talent of these artists.
