Buscemi
is a small village on the Iblean Plateau, on a hill at 2500 feet
above sea level, which dominates Anapo valley and surrounded by the
ruins of the ancient Akrai, Casmene and the
Necropolis of Pantalica.

The earliest historical
records go back to the Arab period when the place was called
Qal'at Abu Samah. Later we find "Abu Xamah", "Abuxama",
